PART 1: THE FUNDAMENTALS OF SELF TAN
HOW DOES SELF TAN WORK?
To understand the science of Technocolor, let's take you through the fundamentals of self tanning and how it all works.
Self tan produces a temporary colour variance that can last up to seven days on your skin. Over the span of a week, the colour result begins to fade as our skin naturally exfoliates. The common ingredient that is used in self tan to produce this colour difference is called Dihydroxyacetone, also known as DHA.
DOES EVERYONE REACT THE SAME WAY TO SELF TAN?
Just like hair dye, self tan can produce different results on different people.
The result you can achieve really depends on your skin, how it reacts to the levels of DHA in the product and other elements included in the formula; like additional hydrators, colour enhancers, and more!
HOW LONG DOES SELF TAN LAST?
Self tan can last for up to 7 days on skin, but this is dependant on your skin type, your pre and post tanning routine, the environment you’re in and many other factors!
The rate at which your self tan begins to fade is dependant on your skin type; if you’re someone who has a typically dry skin type, you may find that your self tan fades a lot quicker than someone who has a normal skin type. This is because self tan sits on the top of your skin and will usually fade when our skin naturally exfoliates.
WHAT IS A COLOUR GUIDE?
The colour guide refers to the initial colour you can see when you apply the self tan to your skin.
Colour guides help to guide you during the application process and are great for beginner tanners, as you can see where you’ve applied the product. Colour guides usually have a brown base and are complimented by other colour undertones to provide you with the most natural results for your skin tone.
