Why is it Important to Find the Right Tanning Foam for your Skin Tone?

Not all skin types should be treated the same. Technocolor isn’t a blanket approach to self tanning, where each shade has been clinically curated through cutting-edge research to go beyond the surface of your skin to create the perfect tan. We conducted a world-first clinical skin trial to understand how DHA (a common self tanning active ingredient) affects varying skin tones to determine their most natural results. What we found was that each skin tone required a tailored formula that worked best for their unique skin tone, leaving them with natural, glowing skin results, maintained hydration and increased longevity of colour.

For those with lighter skin tones, higher levels of DHA cause the skin to stress, resulting in an unnatural orange tone and decreased tan longevity. Through this research we concluded that those with fairer skin tones achieve their most natural result and experience increased colour longevity when using a low-level DHA and additional colour enhancers to help produce the most natural tone for their skin.

Perfect for fairer skin tones looking to achieve a natural, cool toned tan, Technocolor Sapphire 1 Hour Express Self Tanning Foam has been formulated with low-level tanning active ingredients and electrolyte hydration. Featuring a blue-grey colour guide to counteract the development of orange tones and can be washed off after one hour of wear for enhanced, natural skin results.

For a medium skin tone, look no further than the Technocolour Emerald 1 Hour Express Self Tanning Foam. Technocolor Emerald has been formulated with mid-level tanning active ingredients and electrolyte hydration, perfect for medium skin tones looking to achieve a deep, olive toned tan. Featuring a green colour guide to counteract the development of orange tones, Technocolor is available in a 1 Hour Express Foam format and will leave you with enhanced, natural skin results.

Tanning Methods for Pale Skin

While our Technocolor range has specifically been developed for different skin tones to provide the most optimal, enhanced results, Bondi Sands has a range of existing Self Tan products that are also suitable for pale skin. If your skin tone is on the fair or pale side, using a product with high levels of tanning actives may not result in the best colour tone for your skin (an undesirable ‘orange’ colour), so if you have fair to pale skin, you might want to stick to our Light/Medium shades of Self Tan for the best tan result, or experiment with leaving the product on your skin for less time, before washing it off. 

Gradual Tan for Pale Skin

Our range of Gradual Tanning Products is also formulated with low levels of active ingredients, so will build to a natural golden tan with each application.
